Aarush - the Li'l Champ

Dear Teachers, From December 2014, we have stopped dayhome for Aarush Waghmare. But we really feel that his association with  Sapling  Dayhome cannot end so quickly. In the last four years, he has spent many very memorable moments at  Sapling  and has grown up to be a happy, trusting and healthy child. I remember the first time I dropped Aarush at  Sapling  Dayhome. He was only 13 months old and I was really worried about how he will adapt in and accept the place. His first day went well, but over the next few months, he was scared of the time he will have to stay away from us and used to cry a lot. He did not play with other children, was very picky about teachers and care-givers and required constant attention. His crying used to hurt us, but still, we felt comfortable leaving him in your care because you never lost patience with him. He was taken care of and nurtured the way we would do at home. Dear Aarush You are a three year old now. You have grown so much... from a quiet baby who just wouldn’t cry much to a toddler who can’t stop being stubborn. You like things your way, you do whatever you want to do... but you also listen to us when we explain things... You like reason, you like to believe. You like music, you love to dance and you love to make everyone dance with you. You talk a lot too. With proper grammar and words, though we don’t understand some words. Aarush is two They say every day is a surprise when you have a baby. So very true. Dear Aarush, you have turned two today. I still remember the day when you were born. So delicate and so quiet. You slept all the while. You were quiet and observant while awake and cried only in sleep sometimes. You paid attention when we talked to you. Liked whatever we showed you. All said I was lucky to have a “quiet” and “obliging” baby like you. Well, no one can call you that anymore J J J... When you were over one yr old, you would persist for whatever you wanted to play with, even if I said no. The light switch for instance. I used to tell Dad, that I like it that you were a little stubborn. Pls note... “little” stubborn!!! I had no idea that the cute little obliging baby would turn into a devil-may-care (in this case devil refers to Dad and me), stubborn child that you are now. Don’t get me wrong. Dear Aarush, It's been two weeks since I have  joined office and you have started going to day care . When I was small I was.always.at home with mom as she was a house wife. When dad was small he was always at home with his aaji because she lived with his parents. So the concept of day care, a home away from home as they call it, is quite new to us. You cry a lot when we drop you there and though your teacher there insists that you are fine the whole day, dropping u at the day care is the hardest part of our day. And unfortunately this hard part lasts the whole day. Well, there is a reason why we decided to put you to day care at this age. The reason is NOT that i HAD to join office. I was already on a career break since you were born and could have joined office any time. The main reason was, we felt  that the separation will hurt you less at this age when you are ready to accept new things. Well, babies are so innocent, they sometimes do things unexpectedly and make everyone laugh.  This list does not include milestones Aarush expectedly attained. It includes all fun things he did in the last one month - While babbling in the thirteenth month,  he unexpectedly said 'Dabaang' when we were planning to see the movie. His Aatya (aunt), who is a BIG Salmaan fan was obviously happy - His grandpa is his favorite as he takes him to the garden and makes him laugh. He got so angry when Grandpa stopped him from doing something that he cried when he saw him and refused to go to him.  But this anger didn't last for more than 10 mins!!! - Started saying Atta non-stop in the thirteenth month (he started saying this when I was teaching him "apple" and the word just stuck). The Panchgani Trip was special for 3 reasons - this was Aarush's first holiday trip with family; the family went together for a trip after almost two years and it was Aarush's Aunt's bday. Aarush is not new to traveling, we travel between Pune-Mumbai every two months. We had also made a short trip to Kolhapur to visit the Mahalakshmi temple, when Aarush was 6 months old. Nevertheless, this trip was special because Aarush now understands and reacts to new things, new environment and new people. We planned to leave early. But when u have a baby in the house, everything revolves around his routine. Since outside food is still no-no for Aarush, we prepared his day's meal in the morning. We reached Panchgani at around 2.00 pm.   We stayed at Hotel Ravine , located at the Sydney point, facing the Krishna valley. The scene we first saw outside the hotel window was breath-taking.
